Last week we ran two Track and Sign Evaluations in central Alberta Canada, hosted by Fiera Biological Consulting. We extend a big congratulations to Joseph Litke who earned a Track and Sign Professional certificate and taught the evaluator David Moskowitz quite a bit about some of the finer details of winter tracking in the region from his years of experience as a biologist and educator. The evaluation included signs as small as an ermine to as large as bison, as well as lots of coyote sign and some distinctive sign of porcupines.
Joseph is a co-founder of Fiera Biological, a respected wildlife consulting firm based in Edmonton, Alberta. He has spent much of his life exploring western Canada’s wild places professionally and recreationally, and this has given him a deep respect and enthusiastic knowledge of wildlife and their habitats.
Throughout his career Joseph has led and participated in tracking-based conservation programs that have spanned the furthest corners of Alberta and reached into Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Since experiencing his first CyberTracker Evaluation on Mount Hood, Oregon, in 2020, Joseph and Fiera Biological have hosted four Standard Evaluations in Alberta, and are looking forward to many more.
