In January 2022 we introduced our online “Tracker Tuesday” series, featuring hour-long presentations and conversations from the Tracker Certification community.

Creating a Regional Field Guide: Wildlife of the Southeast
Tuesday, September 29 at 5 pm Pacific (8 pm Eastern)

Sam Giovanetti is excited to share photos, illustrations, and stories gathered during the making of Wildlife of the Southeast, a soon-to-be-released field guide published by Timber Press. He will describe how participation in CyberTracker certifications helped guide him down his own unique trail that led him to seek out Florida panthers, red wolves, sea turtles, and many other species throughout the Southeastern US for this project.

Bio: Sam Giovanetti is a wildlife tracker, writer, and photographer living in Madison County, NC. He holds a Professional Track & Sign Certification from Tracker Certification North America. He has completed thru-hikes of the Appalachian Trail (2011), the Pacific Crest Trail (2017), and paddled the entire Suwannee River (2022). He has worked as a teacher, a wolf tracker, a rabbit scat collector, a snow shoveler, an arborist, and a gas station clerk. He holds a degree in biology from Appalachian State University in NC. Someone once described him as having “big raft guide energy.”
