Links for Certification Participants
You’ve likely landed here because you recently participated in an event with Tracker Certification North America (TCNA).
TCNA is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that oversees the delivery of CyberTracker Certifications in North America, in support of our mission to advance the practice of wildlife tracking for conservation, research and the everyday naturalist.
To learn more about the history of our organization, the origin of CyberTracker in South Africa, and what it means to be a tracker:

Here’s a quick guide to some other parts of our website:
Certified Tracker Database
If you recently earned a certificate, whether a new level or your first certificate, expect your name to be updated on our Find a Tracker database within 1-2 weeks (often sooner).
Certification Calendar
Many participants leave a certification eager to sign up for the next one. Check out our current calendar, where you can search the map or filter by event type, state/province, and evaluator. The events (“certification type”) include:
- Track & Sign (Standard 2-day evaluation)
- 1-Day Track & Sign
- Track & Sign Specialist
- Trailing (Standard)
- Trailing Specialist
- Trailing Introductory Workshop (NEW)
How to Host a Certification: Info Packet
Certifications get scheduled when a host reaches out to us (or a particular evaluator) to put a date on the calendar. Sometimes evaluators host events themselves, but more often a local host (which could be an individual, a wildlife agency, a nonprofit, a school, or any other organization) takes on this role, which involves managing registrations and logistics for a group of up to 11 participants.
A major advantage of hosting is getting to the set the Certification when and where you want, so if you don’t see an event near you on the calendar, consider reaching out to set something up! We have some experienced hosts who are ready to help you through the process.
You can also receive our Certification Hosting Info Packet (full of planning details, a suggested timeline, and participant communication templates) by filling out this form.
Financial Access
TCNA’s Access program offers financial aid to individuals who might not otherwise be able to attend our programs. Applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis (March 15, June 15, September 15, and December 15). This program is made possible by generous donations from people who have experienced the power of the CyberTracker process and want to pass it on to others. You can apply for financial aid here or donate to our programs here.
North American Wildlife Tracker Conference
In 2021 we started hosting a biannual online conference to bring together trackers from across North America and the globe, showcasing wildlife tracking at work in all its many applications. The latest edition just took place in April 2025, but you can still sign up to access the conference platform and all session recordings by visiting our Conference page. You’ll also find links to view the 2021 and 2023 editions.
Tracker Tuesdays
TCNA also offers free Zoom events held regularly throughout the year. Check out our Tracker Tuesdays page (and scroll down to the bottom) to find all of our past recordings. You’ll also find details for our next event, typically the last Tuesday of each month.
Certified Wildlife Trackers Association
TCNA launched a professional membership association in Spring 2024. CWTA members receive quarterly member newsletters and invitations to online member events. They also have access to a listserv and other networking opportunities. Visit the CWTA page for more information and to sign up.
